My name is Kali. I was named after the Hindu goddess of death, destruction, and rebirth, but I swear I'm not that bad. I was born in Austin, Texas nineteen years ago. I moved to downtown Chicago, Illinois shortly thereafter. I've been lucky enough to have lived here my entire life.
I learned how to read when I was two and a half years old and have been an avid reader ever since. My favorite writers are Kurt Vonnegut, Sylvia Plath, Tennessee Williams, Edward Albee, George Orwell, Ernest Hemingway, e.e. Cummings, Charles Bukowski, and others. I write plays, short stories, short essays, and poetry.
Music is a big part of my life and always has been because both of my parents are musicians. I listen to a lot of indie rock, indie pop, underground hip-hop, electronic music, and foreign pop.
In my free time, I write, draw, take photographs, and experiment with editing software (namely Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom).
